The series Ordering Systems was created within the Monroe County Public Library System of Rochester, New York. The photographs are carefully composed constructions that visually order space. With the use of light, composition, and repetition an unnoticed aura is unveiled. I am interested in these locations as commonplace public and institutional space; through the utilitarian surface the eye is drawn to subtle traces of personality, traces of human intervention, and traces of myself.
My creative process reflects the solitary and serene environment libraries provide for visitors. I methodically analyze these spaces with my camera, following a careful routine that is essential to the resulting images.
