I was watching this frontline video about kids growing up online. It is interesting to see these teenagers and how the internet has changed their world. The one thing that really disturbed me was the Pro-ana web sites. Apparently there is an entire online community based around being pro-anorexia. Some of them take it so far as to worship it and pray to Ana to keep them safe and so on. I guess it is no weirder than praying to anyone else. Nonetheless, it really bothers me that there are these people out there that are encouraging this disease. How are you supposed to realize that you need help when people are telling you that it is good and everyone else is evil for eating. In the show they interview this 16 year old who is hiding her anorexia fro her family, and her friends but sits online at night and gets tips on how to binge and purge, how to feel less hungry and so on. It’s a sad sad existence. Anyway Frontline rules and they post all of there episodes online in full. I love PBS and NPR!
